We will bring the DARwIn-OP humanoid robot to be displayed at the TAROS conference

TAROS = Towards Autonomous Robotic Systems

Now in its 12th edition, TAROS is the UK's premiere annual conference for autonomous robotics. The meeting encompasses topics across the entire range of robotics research and is open to worldwide contributors and participants. TAROS 2011 will be a single-track conference, which includes a limited number of invited talks as well as oral and poster presentations of high quality, original research. Submissions by authors who are new to TAROS are encouraged.

An extra day (Friday 2nd September) has been added to this year's meeting to host a symposium on links between the academic and industrial robotics communities.

Conference Dates: 31Aug-2Sep

Location: Sheffield University

DARwIn-OP will be on display only on 2-Sep

Entrance on 2-Sep is open to the public so come over to see the magic of DARwIn

Hi everyone,

Arrived today to Sheffield where the event is running and still had time to go there this afternoon.

There I found the "Robot Football" from Plymouth University,

The "Sunflower" and other interesting project with touch pressure sensitive skin in a robot, this two projects are from the "Living with Robots and IntEractive Companions" project. Both using Robotis servos.

Here is a photo of the "Sunflower"

And there was also time to DARwIn-OP show up on BBC. A small live transmission advertising the TAROS event where the DARwIn-OP had about 3 seconds of fame :)

Also get a flyer of the next year Robot-Olympics in Bristol, check here the official website http://www.fira-taros2012.org.uk

And for the last, I felt a little bad as almost everyone was suited up and I wasn't :)

Tomorrow I update the thread with more posts and photos during the day.

see you

Hi,

Just returned from the "Industry Day" of the TAROS conference.

Today it was open to public so we had some robot enthusiasts there and some kids that got very excited seeing the DARwIn-OP playing football.

Some teachers very interested in DARwIN-OP and it's open source framework.

Took some pictures of a sensing skin product that was on display, their robot its very interesting (but with a evil Chucky looking) you can tickle it punch it and it reacts, check the photos below.
