Would you mind checking speed of simple face detection?

If you installed ubuntu with X11 so you should be able to compile all the opencv with no problem. there may even be an apt-get version of opencv for A8.

one question is arch linux more light and appropriate that lubuntu or ubuntu with X11

Hi,

No there was no user manual and came with a two pin plug. It had Android 2.3 installed and I can't see how to upgrade to 4.0 either. It does have full android market place

On he speed side it is quick and it comes with several benchmark programs installed that compares it with well know smartphones - which of course it tops

I plugged a mouse in and it detected that and worked really well - certainly helped when playing fruit ninja that comes preinstalled as does a angry bird level. The tv output quality via HDMI lead (supplied) was top notch and I was able to install BBC iPlayer straight for market place and worked well

So far an excellent. Now to see if I can get ubunutu on it (and then Open CV)

Yet another A10 development board showed up. the gooseberry board. Size is pretty big (image below compares it to Rasbery-Pi) so it doesnt look like an improvement from robotics perspective, over the A10 sticks previously mentioned.

British guy, seems to be dedicated, so more effort will go into smoothing out Linux distributions for A10.

Thanks for these URL - very useful.

I have the Linaro build now running but have a problem with the wifi (which is enabled by default) but hopefully should have that fixed soon.

The USB OTG doesn't seem to do anything mine either, have a hub with mouse and keyboard connected to the other USB and thats fine.

Once I get wifi going I'll next try to have a go at OpenCV
