Hi,

It seem there are still people interested in RB1000
I hope this writing may be interested for you:

well, personally I owned all of the 3 robots above,

up to now, RB1000 is the bot I like most.
KHR2 is under engineering and testing.

RB1000 (Japan) has the same brother, Graupner (Germany):
http://www.graupner-robotics.de/

What I experienced is that its mechanical design is cool and I admire the design shape and born-in 19 degree of freedom.

my comments for those interested are:

1) It is more difficult to assemby than then other bots above

2) It do not has the learning feature of RN or KHR
you have to adjust it using the RobovieMaker software slider
but, anyway, the software is good and easy to use.

3) 19 DOF make it more difficult to adjust the motion gait, I should say,
it has a more advanced mechanical structure, however, if you are
not aware of the loading of the servo during adjustment, the servo will
burn out for a long time loading (even though it has 9.2kgcm)

4) Good news are that exact replacement of the original Digital Servo
RB581 (9.2kgcm, 0.11s/60 deg. 5250 yen) had come into market,
It is RBS5801 (0.13s/60, 17kgcm, 8400 yen)
I will certainly buy it for my next trip to Japan in the future.

5) It is not recommended for inexperienced robot builder
(My Personal opinion)

Here are Some photos and movies: :)

In the present time my RB1000 is under modification of direct Gyro control board with relay instread of CPU sampling
and XBee Wireless RS232 (3.3v circuit resign)

Part 3 of Ishii-san's excellent RB1000 build report is online and includes quite a bit of useful information about the RB1000 - almost all of it very positive.

Congraduation! welcome to the RB1000 group!

I should be saying that the playing of RB1000 is cool :D and should becareful :x

I am in present built 2 set of KRG2 dual gyro with relay switching.
(This give me fast response.... why not using the build-in gyro management system? ....... later discuss with you once you have sucessfully make the bot 8) )

In present, I have managed to make RB to go upstgair and downstair one step (later post it :D )

Hey, rep001, great that you have the english manual, do you have the english manual of the Robovie maker, grateful if you can share with me :D

Why I said playing with RB should be careful, because I have burn 4 servos 8O

Here is the weak point of this RB581 servo:

1) Since it is smaller in size (and higher power) , the motor wire is thin enough to easily heat up.

2) If you are not aware of the heat of the servo, it will burn in about 2 minute! 8O

3) the "2 axis module" structure, although save space, but, you SHOULD notice that in some orientation, it will restrict itself in a specific moving range. If you arre not aware of this, and make some parts, say, the leg, rotate and pushing one of the aluminum frame, the servo with heat up!

you will not find this problem in RN usually. So check for "collision" every time you set pose 8)

well, it will be a lot of fun if you can careful about that.

now, working with XBee, I need to add 2 small 3.3 and 5 voltage regulators

.
