From the responses I received I found that people can't recommend a particular one because they all seem to be the best buy for different goals
It really depends on your abilities and what you want to achieve.
Eventually I just read through the forums and followed peoples line of thinking as to what they were trying to achieve and asked myself if that was what I wanted to do.
Personally, I'm not into the fighting side of robots. Im more into the coding I suppose. I bought the KHR 1HV for the simple fact that it has the extra 2 DOF in the hip. Saves me having to figure out what someone else has already done a much better job of.
If you are into the motion and movement side of things, in my opinion, the RN1 seems more suited. The RN1, if I understood the thread I have read, has some security or something around the start-up so direct programming may be difficult or at least more specialised than I am capable of...
