These are not toys or cars or microwave ovens or MP3 players but hobby robots intended to be hacked and taken to their limits and beyond therefore it is not unlikely that through the course of your activity with the robot at some stage or other they will break or smoke and you shouldn't expect to get the vendor or manufacturer to fix replace things at that stage (even though we do sometimes).
Statistics: Posted by limor — Sun Sep 02, 2007 1:12 pm

Thanks for the info. So it's not like a car or a computer where you get a year or more if something goes wrong. It sounds like you are covered for something being manufactured wrong, which can be found within a couple of weeks. But if there is a flaw that takes many hours of activity to discover (like with a battery), then the manufacturer is off the hook?
Statistics: Posted by evaderdjo — Sun Sep 02, 2007 3:38 am

RoboSavvy is obliged by law (European distance selling) to provide a couple of weeks of money back guarantee. In addition, we (and/or our suppliers) replace any servos, cables or controller board that is found defective within a few weeks from purchase.

Statistics: Posted by limor — Sun Sep 02, 2007 2:19 am

I have read in a few posts that some robots come with a warranty, however I am unclear as to what is covered and what is not. I guess if a servo that came in the kit was bad from the start, they would replace it. But how would they know if it was user error? It seems like getting magic black smoke from your servos is pretty common.

The surprising thing is that the manufacturer websites don't make their warranty a big selling point, like car companies do.

Could someone scan their warranty description and post it, or direct me to where I can find it myself? If each company has a similar warranty, it won't affect my decision which kit to buy. But if one company covers more, or for a longer period, maybe that would influence my purchase.
Statistics: Posted by evaderdjo — Sat Sep 01, 2007 3:54 am
