KHR-1 is also quite a safe choice. The platform has plenty of followers, documentation and add-ons are more numerous. The Robonova is fairly new compared to the KHR-1 so it will take some time for the market to catch on and produce fancy stuff for us.

I would have gone with the KHR-1 if my mind was not biased towards the cosmetics of the RN-1.

Hi,
I had the same questions in mind, as I started my decision-making. Although I can not comment on other brands or models, I can state, that with Robonova you make a safe move. This robot is technically state of the art, completely loaded with moves etc., so you can argue "out of the box" with anyone, asking what this robot is all for (like my wife )). Here you find a vivid community, helping and sharing, in case you venture deeper into your own programming, modding or whatever you want to name those modifications / add ons you might want to do. So my recommendation is: order a Robonova right away - would be no mistake !

For a first robot - go with one that has solid documentation and a good support network.

Robonova-1 and KHR-1 are the only choices that come to my mind.

I am getting a Robotis but this is a HUGE risk because very few people have played with it and the documentation is dodgy at best...Which is why I also have the Robonova-1...

Thanks for the feedback.

While surfing the web looking for more info on humunoid/bi-pedal bots I stumble on Lynx Motion Servo Erector Kit. Are there any thoughts on this system? It reminds me of BioLoid and is yet another choice.

I am very antsy to get started but, want to make the right choice. Does anyone else have any experiences (good, bad or ugly) that could help me. It is really appreciated.

Get the Robonova-1.

I just bought one - should be here next week.

Why did I get it over the KHR-1?

* Better looking
* Looks more like a robot than a pile of silicon, plastic and metal
* Newer with equal potential for expansion
* My take is that it is more "robust" than the KHR-1

My first robot The KHR-1 is probably the daddy of all the modern day robots...add-ons are still coming and I guess that if you like that look - it is an excellent choice as well.

The Robonova looks more professional - the KHR-1 looks like a 5th grade electronic project 8O

I am very interested in buying a humanoid robot to begin playing with. Cost is not much of a concern as I figure this hobby will bankrupt me anyway.

I am looking for something like RoboNova or KHR and am wondering what the best route to go is. I want something that can be custom programmed and can have sensors attached and programmed as well as a remote control option (R/C, BlueTooth, etc).

I have also would like to be able to add more servos to the bot and would like something that supports that.

So I guess I am looking for something with the standard base features that will offer alot of expandability as I get further into the hobby. Thank you in advance for your comments.
