The question is not if I want him to be a replicant because Ridley Scott said that he is. I am just pointing out some interesting new elements that I saw in the Final Cut. If you like the movie you should watch it. This is the version that Ridley Scott is most happy with.

Do you want Deckard to be a Replicant

In the end Deckard recognizes the "humanity" in the AI, as the Replicant spares his life and shows the depth of his "soul". Deckard lets him die in peace and escapes. If Deckard turned out to be a Replicant all the beauty and deeper meaning would go away. The hints are a good tease and get's you into the "what if" mood...but if true, wouldn't serve the human/cyborg connection,

I watched the making of Blade Runner DVD. In it they talked about how Tyrell was also a replicate. The scene where Roy would found his preserved body would be after he killed his replicate. While crushing his head he would have discovered that he was a Nexus too. They didn’t shoot the scene because of time and money constraints. My question now is who was not a replicate in the movie?

I agree, the most human line in the film, perfectly delivered by Rutger Hauer is:

........All these ... moments will be lost ... in time, like tears ... in rain. Time ....to die.

You can also say that Roy is the real hero of the movie. In the end he truly understood the meaning of life and ascended to robot heaven as symbol by the dove.

Yes, I think Deckard is meant to be a replicant, but there is not difference its an unjust label, an excuse for slavery. The label reduces the person (replicant -skin job) to an object, something easy easier to "terminate", the intro used the word "retirement".

Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave!

Yes they are psychotic killing machines, However they are conscious, sentient beings, driven to psychosis by their intolerable predicament. The character Tyrell was immoral to design a conscious, sentient being to be a killer or compound this by adding an off switch. Tyrell said of Rachael:

Commerce is our goal here at Tyrell. "More human than human" is our motto. Rachael is an experiment. Nothing more.

Here are three of the reasons why I think that he is a replicant. His eyes glow like the other Nexus, the other cop knows that he dreams of Unicorns and he collects pictures to support his implanted memories. I think that he is a Nexus 7. A robot design to be as close to a human as possible.

Yes, the replicants are "Human all too Human" as Nietzsche might have said.
And all the "Humans" in the film (and in real life..often) are nothing but robots.
Its all just a matter of Morphology? Longevity? and Incept dates?

"Fiery the angels fell; deep thunder roared around their shores; burning at the fires of Orc."

PS I just quoted that last line because I think its cool.

I have been watching the movie occasionally/irregularly for the past 25 years. I saw it when it hit the screens (it didn't become a religion at right away) and have the DVD and the original book from 1968.
IMHO the greatness of the movie and book is that it does leave you wondering whether Decker is human and it challenges our prejudice about what it means to be human, about xenophobia, racism, "us and them" etc.

This maybe a little off topic but I just saw the final cut of Blade Runner. I think that with out a doubt that Deckard is a replicant.
