The KRC-1 mimics the PC serial port when running the rcbcommander and basically allows you to control the robot without the PC.

she will also jealous of you KHR2 too! (you second wife )

you still need the pc cable to download motion data to KHR2 first, although you have the wireless tools.
the wireless tools is useful for calling programmed motion.

(later, you may found some wireless device, such as XBee or bluetooth that can completely replace the pc cable!

sometime you may also need ics usb connector to adjust servo performance )

Ok, so here's my new list from this site shop:

1 x KHR-2HV Kit
2 x Giro sensor: KRG-3
1 x RAS-1 Acceleration Sensor
1 x Battery for KHR-1 (HV) - "Power Cell HV C Type" NiMh 10.8V 300mA
TOT 947,04 eur

Now I think I need something to remote control it. I've found 2 options:

Radio Control Unit - USB interface (138,68 Eur)
Radio control unit USB + KRC-1 (180,65 Eur)

I'm not sure if both of them will work on KHR-2.
I prefer the possibility to control my robo from a PC so I'd chose the first option.

Uops, I forgot:
1 x HV connector set male/female 5 pieces
1 x Sholder Support
Which will add other 16,00 euros to my expensive little toy....

Guys, ...my wife 8O will kill me...

What do you think about my package?

hello Andrea

I've just bought the khr-2 and I'm very happy with it. the lake of english manully quit bad but you can happily build it using the jap manul and online help. the problem is using the jap h2h but it only took me a day to get my head around it, I can at least make him walk now.

if I was going to buy this kit again the most important extra is the bigger battery the standard one only last 30 minutes then takes 10 hours to charge.

you should buy KRG3 Gyro x2 sets (x and y axis)

please note the manual and software are displayed in japanese.
although there are some web site to discuss with.

Krg-2 gyro is only for KHR-1 due to voltage difference.
You can't use it with KHR-2HV without some heavy modifications.

Ok, I'm oriented on KHR-2
Which obtions can I buy togheter with the Robo?

1) The Gyro? Does it exist for the KHR-2?

2) I've still not understood how I'll "drive" it. For example, it will execute a series of movement I'll have defined on my laptop.
Let's suppose I will attach a videocamera on his head, there is a way to control him remotely (and make him execute some "mission" in other rooms)? PocketPc via bluetooth? Do I need the radio receiver + radio control unit?

Here what I would choose:

KRG-2 Gyro Stabilizer

TOT 721.75£ (here)

As I'm in Italy, which is the best place to buy online?

KHR-1 - has been around since 2004. over 4000 units sold, mostly in Japan. has many proven-to-work add-ons. Has English documentation and lots of information and registered users on this forum. Price is slightly higher than KHR-2 because Kondo are trying to get people to buy the new model.

KHR-2 - has only been lauched recently. Has several improvements including new controller CPU and more powerful servos, and a graphic programming interface which includes conditional branching based on sensor values and other states. Documentation is currently still in Japanese.

RN1 - launched at the beginning of the year, it is similar in many ways to KHR-1 but with some improvements. It is programmable with a very easy to grasp Basic-like language and supports several type of sensors (see the FAQ) and hides a lot of the complexity of dealing with low level timers and interrupts. The most popularized humanoid online mainly because Hitec have European and US offices that promote and support the robot among the hundreds of Hitec dealers and in turn thanks to many English speaking owners who share their hacks and experiences with the robot.

Bioloid - Robotis has been around for ages serving the humanoid research community. Robotis servos are the weapons of choice at Robocup humanoid league. This is their first kit at a reasonable price. It is the most advanced kit in several ways. You can make a dog, hexapod, humanoid and even a plotter from this kit. Programmable with gnu C++. It also has some simplified GUI. Comes with sensors, powerful servos sitting on a 1mbps bus (no backwards-compatible analog PWM servo control). Provides servo position and torque feedback (at up to 100hz) and complete control over servo behavior.

All the models allow you to put the robot in a given pose and capture the relative servo position in order to assist in creating motion sequences.

Hi to all of you,

I'm a new Italian user and I'm considering to buy my first Robot

So: here my questions for you:
which one?

KHR-1 or KHR-2?
The price is higher for the first version, why? All options suitable for K1 will suit also K2?

Bioloid?
Robonova?

As I want to build the robot by myself I won't consider the ones by kyosho
I'm much more oriented on K1, but I need your advice.

Any suggestions?
