Good job translating inaki and limor. That robot in the video is quite different from the first photo. Still no leg rotation, saving that for an upgrade kit maybe? It does move pretty well, but nothing seems to beat that KHR-1 "bigsteps" video, I hope I can get my KHR-1 to move like that.

Pretty impressive the video. In the line of KHR but -somewhat like having gyros?

By the way, in the video at the last slide there is a chart that compares the Hitec with Kondo, is there anybody there able to translate it to english ?

As the article says, the new robot servos are going to be "moins onéreux" (less costly).

I've found some more info about the new robot. It doesnt look at all like the prototype mentioned above. Obviously Hitec wont let Kondo celebrate their 1-year KHR-1 aniversary, without putting up a fight..

It will use 16 servos of type HSR-8498HB
Microcontroller board: MR-C3024
height: 350mm
Weight: 1.3kg
Torque: About 7 kgcm (using 6.0V) and about 9 kgcm(using 7.4V)

Actually the article states clearly that the motors on the new Hitec robot to be sold in September will NOT be the titanium ones but a cheaper version. The price is said to be *next* to 1000 Euro.

The servos on that robot are the new Titanium Gear, $114 each US, the brackets retal for over $30 US. Thats already over $2800 US and thats around 2300 EURO. The bot in the picture will never sell for anywhere near 1000 EURO. People would be buying it just to take it apart and make a better robot.

Found a couple of pics on the exposition web site.
Go to this link and select Innovasion and then press on the icons (you can then right-click to download small/large photos)

It looks similar to a hitec-based robot called TA-28M that has been around for a while but retails in Japan for an incredible price of almost $4000US.

Could you possibly scan the article that you are refering to and upload or email it?

The well known servo motors builder Hitec will release soon a robot kit with 21 servo motors. The robot that ressembles a KHR-1 strongly was presented at the French 'Salon du modele reduit 2005' where it was put to dance among other things.

I will be released in September for a suggested price of 1000Euro with software, 21 motors and a remote controller.

A KHR-1 competitor ?

(sorry I have been unable to find a picture on the Internet, though you can find one in page 18 of magazine Electronique Prattique-June 2005)
