Hi,
I PMed this to lampcov about a week a go but I desided to post it here for every one can see it! So here it is:

I would defnitly stay away from Kondo KHR-1 becouse it shakes, and it falls over a lot, and is harder to program. but you can buy a Kondo servo programer to get rid of shakes (note: that is not the software that comes with the kit). This is my fiveth choice.

Kondo KHR-2HV solves a lot of the problems. But there are not to many 3rd party add ons. HV stands for high voltage. And is curently second most popular on this forum. This is my therd choice.

Bioloid is the most versitable kit so you can make hexipods (six legs), quudropods (four legs), and of corse robo-ones (bipeds). And Bioloid makes lots of servos, sensors, etc. for add ons. This is my forth choice.

hitec Robonova-1(RN-1) is curently the most popular on this forum so you can get lots of help from the members of this forum thare are also 3rd party add ons like Matt's (aka bauermech) "Robonova Grips". This is my second choice. (http://www.bauerindependents.com Matt's site)

Kyosho Manoi AT01 is the new kid on the block and comes with clear body shells that you can paint. Lem (aka tempusmaster) has one so you might want to ask him more about it. This is my first choice. (http://www.robots-dreams.com Lem's site)

Soon kondo will release its KHR-1HV which is in between KHR-2 and Manoi AT01

Also, I wouldn't choose a kit based on the processor. You can always ditch whatever processor comes with it and use your own. But you're pretty much stuck with the servos and (to slightly lesser extent) the brackets, so choose ones you think you can live with for a long time.

These give the pro's and con's of the Manoi AT-01, Bioloid and the KHR-1HV.
I haven't researched the RoboNova much. However I do know that it is very popular and very expandable/hackable. I would search the RN-1 area for info. There should be plenty. Myself, I am going with the Bioloid. The two posts listed above convinced me!

I've been reading and reading and I am considering purchasing one of the 3 above mentioned robots, but can't seem to find any direct Pro's/Con's between the three. Does any have a link that compares them? if not does anybody have experience with the three.

It seems that Robonova is the hot item right now and has some nice features and a good following. using Basic as the programming language is a bonus for its ease, but not having all the info for the mr-3204 bothers me.

Bioloid on the other hand I can get the complete specs to the chip it seems and even code everthing in C, C++ which although would be a major project would give me more functionality in the long run perhaps.

the KHR-2HV has a nice processer and I like the software drag and drop idea of programming.

expandiblity, durability, reliability are the three keys for me.

What to do?? Can anybody give me some ideas
