I finally made it into PC Plus. I think I have the very first issue in the loft somewhere. Only took me 264 issues to get there

Hi, picked this up today, very nice, take me a while to read through it all though.

What really made my jaw drop was that right next to it on the shelf of my local small English town newsagents was a stack of "Robot magazine" next to the RC moddeling mags.

I don't need to import these anymore, I can buy them off the shelf for £3.50

I should have also mentioned one of my robot projects finally got published this week!!

Over the summer I have been working with Future Publishing on a Robotics supplement for the UK issue PC Plus Jan 2008. It is in the shops from the 18th Dec. (WH Smith)

My 914 PC Bot -A1DW- is on the cover . There are some great articles on robot development and plenty of practicals if you fancy doing some Microsoft Robotics Studio stuff (there are some KHR-1 services in the download)!

Easy robot competition for UK robots!

hi all,

I'm sorry I missed your second event - I was hoping to attend. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the 3rd!

In the mean time, Microsoft UK have organised a fun robot competition for robot owners or robot dreamers. Robot Idol is the opportunity to publish a pic and the special features of your robot. These are then voted on and the winner gets £500 credit to spend at nominated online web stores.
If you're still a robot dreamer, then submit your Robot blueprint as a text description or a jpeg drawing. A panel of judges will award the most ingenius blueprint £250 credit to spend at nominated online web stores.

Take a look at http://iloverobots.wotudo.net to see your competition and vote. Then prep your best pic and get it submited.

A good day was had by all. Have a few photos of the days events. Photo of the winners from left to right are sonic, (not sure?), billb, robo1, orac, novaone and ibot.

billb first, novaone second and sonic third.

Picture of third place winner, sonic's i-sobot (possibly the first contest this little robot has won). He gave a good run for the money, steady and in quite a straight line.

I would like to thank ibot for the lift to the games.

Fabulous time was had by all. It was great to see so many different types of Humanoids some with very interesting hacks.

It is always great to meet up with fellow roboteers and share ideas. As with last time it has given my so, so many ideas for improvements and further hacks to improve the robot.

I would like also to thank Limor and everyone else involved for the efforts made at making the event a success.Looking forward to the next one and would ask all of this community to come along and lets see how many Humanoids we can gather at one time.I am sure we could even make a new World Record (maybe).There sure is alot of of knowledge to be gleaned from the experts that attend and thank them for taking the time to chat and share ideas which i guess is what its all about.I do.
che have pics and video that i shall try my best to put up in the next few days.cheers....

i-bot your knowledge of the inner workings of RN is unparalleled!
Bren, I can't wait to see your home build, (I'm not pulling your leg).
Peter good luck sorting out your manoi, I think it will be a good match for BillB at the next event.

I'm not ungrateful, but now I come to think about it, shouldn't I have been disqualified for cartwheeling in a running race. I must have a nasty competitive streak (It was all just a blur , all i could see were those RED finish line digits )
So much for the compass module. I might have done better using it
