According to the information from the manufacturer, this is what the "voice" feature means:

" Both 5710K and 5720T-S02 have sound detection feature, which corresponds with Bioloid’s sound detection. But it’s not the expensive voice recognition feature. The “voice” means the speaker system which 5720T-S02 has. The RBC controller of 5720T-S02 has a sound file processor and a speaker built-in so it can play sound files. The RBC controller of 5710K doesn’t have this feature. If a user who has 5710K purchases a RBC-08128YNN (the controller for 5720T-S02) separately, he can enjoy the voice speaker feature. The two different RBC controllers of 5710K and 5720T-S02 are compatible for each other. "

Please note: the 5710K HAS a simple sound detection system, similar to the one on the Bioloid.
However the advanced RBC controller board present in the 5720T (the transparent one) extends these sound processing capabilities by including a dedicated sound file processor. This is what "voice" means.

The price for the advanced controller board, if you wish to upgrade your 5710K in order to have voice capabilities would be about 60GBP+VAT. We are not planning on stocking this part just yet but it is possible to have them on order from Robobuilder (which would take 2-3 weeks).

Also note that, according to the picture, the 5710K does not have a distance sensor. However, we are offering a replacement head with distance sensor for all customers who purchase the kit. This means the 5710K you get from Robosavvy will include distance sensor.
I appologise for repeating this so often but it seems important because with this offer the kit includes all cool features a high end humanoid is expected to have

So, I'd have ordered the black model anyway (as I have) - because it's cheaper, and I'm new to the whole thing. However, when surfing over at robobuilder.net I did stumble accross this piccy:

The table at the bottom of which suggests that the more expensive one has "voice" which I'm assuming is either text-to-speech or else voice control (a-la isobot?)

Or am I missing something?

i am a begginer and i i am think buy one humanoid for begin, i have two quwestions.
i am undecided what humnoid i will buy the robophilo or robobuilder, what you suggest?
The second question is, the robobuilder can be expand like robophilo?

robo builder is similar to bioloid, and is specifically designed to be reconfigurable and expandable... Although the build me be easier ,learning programming in C might be a steeper learning curve ...but I believe worth in in the long run.

The technology in robobuilder is more advanced..In my opinion, its a true second generation humanoid.....? (I will be buying one myself)

robophilo looks like a good kit for a beginner...being similar to robonova...I can't comment on how expandable robophilo directly with stardard parts, however with all robots the only thing that limits this is your imagination, time and knowledge. The latter is often dependent on the the amount of support you can get from friends on places like this forum.
I agree with i-Bot statement:

If you are really a robot person, you will gain enormous pleasure from either.

But would like to add, the quality of the friends you make in the robot community should really be the deciding deciding factor. I have only had a robonova a little over a year, and I can't measure how much help and support I've had from the guys on the forum.

Im a little annoyed that for the humanoid config their seems to be no way to make a dual knee joint design or hip pivots or waist rotate

We shall see about that....where there's a will, there's a way....

just wish that they didn't use those plastic joints for the robobuilder.

If plastic joints are a real problem we shall just have to make metal replacements

The technical specs and expansion capability of the Robobuilder appear to be much better than Robophilo. The design is more advanced and the supplier software more "open" at no additional cost for SDK.

Of course a silver at Robogames for Robophilo means a head to head competition is now required with Huno. This will determine if the Robobuilder execution matches their apparent superior design.

Finally, there is no such thing as a better robot in my opinion. That is like saying which is the best breed of dog. Opinion will vary and debate can be quite noisy ! As with dogs the performance relates more to the owner than the robot. If you are really a robot person, you will gain enormous pleasure from either.

The price at RoboSavvy for the Robobuilder 5710K is going to be about 320GBP (640$) excluding VAT (ie: +17.5% = 376GBP for ECC shipping addresses)

This ranks the humanoid as the the cheapest in the non-toy category

So just a bit more expensive than the inflatable insoles guy sells them on ebay from Korea given that he charges 100$ for shipping.

There are ebay listings for these robots. The listing person has zero previous sales, so it would be a risky transaction. I am not recommending these listings, merely pointing out that they exist. Perhaps these robots will be available outside of Korea soon?
