Modelling a robobuilder pan and tilt with Google Sketch

This is just a test - and shows how you can create a simple pan and tilt. I have also loaded some Google Sketch items successfully into Shapeways.com for 3D printing - but it takes a bit of effort to sort out non-manifold errors. But otherwise it seems a really easy to use program for CAD development.

Hi guys,

I noticed that the wck.igs file is incomplete. One side of the wck covers is missing. May i know where to download the complete drawings of it? I need it urgently..thanks in advance

As an experiment I've fixed in blender and exported and then loaded into a 3D printing service: (Shapeways.com) - Not sure if you can see this:

The file format is .igs, or of IGES type - one of the most supported cad file types in use today. Any of the recent versions of eMachineShop should be able to 'import' the IGES files (granted, I also understand that you have having trouble doing so). Further, I am aware that software such as Autodesk Inventor and Solidworks can certainly work with the IGES format - so if eMachineShop continues to give you trouble, I might suggest switching to one of these professional alternatives. Is it possible you have a dated version of eMachineShop? while the format of IGES has remained nearly the same through the years - perhaps running it through another program first will solve your problem. Personally, I have had great success with Autodesk Inventor.

Its a stupid question,how I open the unzipped files?

I had install the eMachineShop , but cannot open and import the unzipped files.

3D CAD models of the joints are now available for download.

These can be used as a basis on which to build your own custom joints (using emachineshop.com for example)

Very nice job i-Bot...looks like your RB is 90% home built...must have taken hours.....When do you intend to sell the kits?

l3v3rz any more progress with your simulation, it looks very impressive?

I have imported the igs files into Inventor, but the wCK seems to have no cover over the gears?

Thanks for the models.

I have been looking at them, but I am not very used to CAD especially 3D. So some learning to do yet.

The new plates and hips are fairly simple:

The hips were going to be carbon fibre angle, but it does not seem very strong at the angle point, so I have kept the 1/8 aluminium for now. I am waiting to see how good the thinner Robobuilder ali brackets are. I think my configuration should be the same as the Robobuilder brackets

The knees and hips are just 1mm CF sheet.

The body is from 30mm CF angle.

Head is PS2 wireless receiver with output simulating the IR controller.

Thanks to NovaOne for making the logitech interface board.

It just fits inside the head after milling out some of the internals.

Thats sounds very impressive - what about some photos ?

I'm up loading the files now. I converted them first to WRL and then imported all those files into a single blend file.

Do you intend to sell your stuff as a kit ?

It would be great if you can share the converted files.

I have added hip joints, so I need to make a diagram to include these in the servo numbering. Only the feet, hands and servos are original, but that is a big start. I replaced the body, knees, and hips with carbon fibre, and the hips are alloy now.
