I have updated the post above to make it a bit more clear.

Also here is a rundown of what you need to upgrade your Robobuilder to High Torque / High Speed:

- 1x LiPo Battery Upgrade Kit (11.1V) - <strike>http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info.php/products_id/531</strike> - This product is not currently available in our online store. Please contact our sales department if you'd like to purchase it.

- 1x Pack with 12 sets of METAL Gear1,2&3 for wCK 1108 -
<strike>http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info.php/products_id/ 525</strike>
This is now available for stand alone purchase (not as a pack of 12): http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... cts_id/524
You need 12 of these to upgrade standard robobuilder, which includes 12 1108 servos.

- 1x Pack with 4 units of METAL Gear 1 for 1111 - http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... cts_id/527

- In case you have an early Robobuilder Kit and don't have gear number 4 in metal (gear number 4 is the biggest one in the servo), you will also need:
- 1x Set of METAL Gears number 4 for Robobuilder kits -
http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... cts_id/530

This is the what you need for a standard Robobuilder Kit (with 16 servos). Hi

The LiPo upgrade kit (11V) is now available in store as advertised.
[ NOTE the LiPO battery kit has been superseded by a new kit: the High Power / High Torque Upgrade Kit which includes the Lipo + the necessary metal gears for a sucessfull upgrade for High Torque; supply for these kits is sometimes suspended because it is not always easy to get a hold of these LiPos ]

Highlights:
- The battery is charged without disassembling the robot.
Disassembling the RBC or removing the battery is not necessary. Please see the picture bellow with the charging process.

- No soldering is required
A special cable is included that will simply connect to the battery connector on the RBC.
I had previously posted some assembly information that mentioned soldering but the LiPo kit we'll be selling will NOT require that.

- The use of the LiPo Kit with 11V + Full metal gears increases the maximum holding torque and the working speed of the servos.
At 11V a wCK 1111 exhibits nearly the same torque as a Bioloid AX 12 servo.

- The Smart Charger included in the kit can be used to charge other/different types of LiPo batteries.
You can set up the charger for different types of LiPos by changing the jumper positions on the charger.

Here the comparison chart of the Torque and Speed of the servos at different voltages:

Please note it is highly recommended that you upgrade your servos to all metal gears to safely take advantage / support the increased torque.

Here is a picture of the charging procedure:

EDIT:
- Updated the comparison chat.
- I have also updated the assembly instructions on the product page. Apparently the original PDF file with the instructions was missing one page.
Statistics: Posted by PedroR — Thu Apr 23, 2009 1:35 am
