The download start as soon as the machine restarts - before it even gets into PC control mode or standard mode.

Sounds like you have serial connection problem - couple of possibilities are your not using the correct serial port, or something else is also connected to the serial port - stopping the upgrade tool connecting - do any bytes get transfered - its gives a count as it goes along ?
Statistics: Posted by l3v3rz — Sat Dec 12, 2009 2:07 pm

Hi

I have sent an email to Robobuilder to find out more about this Free Motion functionality.

I see on the RB website that there is now v2.26n which adds or removes this functionality (not sure now which it is LOL) but nevertheless it is the first time they have released a variant ("n") for a firmware version.

Pedro.
Statistics: Posted by PedroR — Thu Dec 10, 2009 6:35 pm

So what goes wrong ? Here are the steps - and its works for me.

1. Downloaded the zip and when unzipped you should get a hex file called RBC 2.26.hex.
2. Use the RBC upload tool (see comment below) and select the com port and file using the menus.
3. Press go and it (the upload tool) will ask you to reset the robot to start download.
4. Cycle the power the download will start automatically showing a progress bar.
5. When it reaches the end its done and the robot is running the new version.

You might need a more up to date version of the RBC download tool, its also available on the robobuilder.net site. A few links down from the firmware.

Does anyone know how to use this new free motion function - does it support capture and play in the firmware now ???
Statistics: Posted by l3v3rz — Mon Dec 07, 2009 5:16 pm

Hi matrix2db

You need to look on our forum for motion files as they are spread a bit.

To make the robot work with more than 16DOF, you need to select the platform CREATOR OTHER in MotionBuilder and set the RBC controller to CUSTOM PLATFORM mode (refer to the manuals of the Robot and MotionBuilder; please visit the main 5710 product page as we have added this and other documentation to it).

With regards to MSRDS please note the following: you will ALWAYS need to use MotionBuilder of you want to create and tune new Motions.
MSRDS does not have that capability.

When it comes to creating autonomous behaviors for the Robot, that's where MS Robotics Studio comes into play.
There are many other options though: ActionBuilder (for the absolute beginner), MS Robotics Studio, the libraries developed by our community and C programming.

If you're starting, Action Builder and MSRDS might be the best options for you.
Again, I recommend you visit the main 5710 product page as he have added a lot of documentation there (including tutorials for Action Builder and MSRDS).

Regards
Pedro.
Statistics: Posted by PedroR — Thu Nov 12, 2009 2:14 pm

Well i purchased a robobuilder with metal brackets kit,hip kit, ect. Im assembled and running but i have some questions. At the moment i am using standard 16DOF some of the motion files like one arm handstand will not work do they need to be modified for the metal bracket kit? Also if i install the hip kit will the files need to be modified or will they still work. I see they sell a 20DOF model do all of the files have to be made? I have little to no programing experience. I have already downloaded the moves from the robobuilder site and some pedro posted. From what i can tell evereyone is using the microsoft robotics for advanced work. Any recomendations before i jump head first into that (pre requisites). Also are their any more repositories for motions out their. thanks in advance for any help.
Statistics: Posted by matrix2db — Mon Nov 09, 2009 3:47 am
