I have to say that I agree with this decision. If you have to choose between the two servos, there is no competition.

The extra durability of the 1111 is the main factor. Since the robobuilder is sold as a learning platform, you can expect it's users to push the servos harder than if it were sold as a toy. I actually would prefer it if they came with all metal gears.
Statistics: Posted by badcommandorfilename — Tue Dec 22, 2009 9:46 pm

Hi all

We wanted to let you know that we are now focusing on stocking wCk 1111 servos only (both transparent and black).

We have decided to stop stocking the 1108 because when you compare the two models the following is observed:
- 1111 and 1108 servos can be used interchangeably (same form factor and protocol)
- 1111 servos already include 2 metal gears (2 and 3)
- 1111 servos offer more torque (in exchange for lower speed but we are confident they are still fast enough!)
- The price difference between the two models was 3 gbp

Therefore it made sense to us to focus on the 1111 servos only.

The only occasions where we were supplying 1108 servos was with the Robobuilder Spider Complementary Kits. We have updated these to include 1111 servos now too which are a better overall addition to the robot.

If you have a specific demand for an 1108 servo please let us know as we are still able to get them for you.

We hope you all understand and agree to our choice but if not, please feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts

Regards
Pedro.
Statistics: Posted by PedroR — Tue Dec 22, 2009 1:58 pm
