Hello All,

Please let me introduce you to an alternate controller for your RoboBuilder. MTY Controller for wCK version. It takes on the same form-factor as your RBC. Meaning, you can simply remove the RBC from the bottom cover & replace with this MTY Controller.

Instead of Atmel chip, it uses Parallax's 32-bit Multicore P8X32A chip. A summary of the board specification as follows:

▪ Multicore Processor (P8X32A), 8-core Processors at 80MHz
▪ Real-Time Clock
▪ Accelerometer
▪ 2-Channel 12-bit ADC
▪ MicroSD Socket
▪ FTDI chip for USB interface
▪ Temperature Sensor
▪ Efficient DC-DC Buck Switches
▪ Efficient NiMH charging by LTC4011
▪ 1.5W Audio Amplifier
▪ 4 x Connectors that directly support wCK servo
▪ Supports other servos using *extension cables
▪ 2 x 3-Pin Connectors for Standard Servo (Pw, Gnd, Signal)
▪ 3 x 4-pin Connectors for Optional Devices (Pw, Gnd, Tx, Rx)
▪ Micro-OLED Display Unit (96 x 64 pixel) in Head Unit
▪ Touch Sensor
▪ Microphone
▪ Mini-Speaker
▪ SHA-265 Encryption Technology for Protecting Media File & Applications
▪ 2 x 10-pin Connectors for Add-On Daughter Board

* Not include in this package

The P8X32A chip is a 32-bit 8-core processor that comes with 32KB ROM & 32KB RAM. You can read more about it from the datasheet at (http://www.parallax.com/ProductInfo/Microcontrollers/PropellerGeneralInformation/PropellerMediaPage/tabid/832/Default.aspx)

There are about 192 programming language for this chip according to this web-site (http://humanoidolabs.blogspot.com/2012/03/ultimate-list-of-big-brain-languages.html) but ... I'll only mention that you'll only need C to program it. If you want to go native, you can use either Spin or PASM (Propeller Assembly Language). The board will be package with a C IDE to utilize the library (written for P8X32A) for wCK servo.

The board will come with 2 personalities (applications). Storyteller & Robotic Puppet. The Storyteller comes with 4 children stories & 1 aerobic exercise. The Robotic Puppet can record as long as there are sufficient space on the Micro-SD.

I'm still writing the user manual & will upload to the web-site once done.

Thank you.
FB: (http://www.facebook.com/KatotecRobotics)
Statistics: Posted by katotec — Tue Apr 24, 2012 10:39 am
