I can't successfully install winXP for Roboard

Hi Alex, yeah xp takes about 6hrs to install, going to re-attempt my xp today.

Good day

My name is Alex Bunodiere and I am building a UGV(Unmanned ground vehicle) with a Roboard RB-110 as the controller.

I have purchased the roboard and now have it in my possession and have started trying to install winXP on the roboard using xlite, I have followed the instructions to the letter,but I am now on step 64, but it is taking hours.. It says 39min remaining and 2hours later it says 37min, is this normal?

Chris, I had this happen with one of my first attempts installing XP and it isnt a power issue I was running on 12v from my Bioloid power supply-

I cant remember how I resolved it. Vaguely I recall - and I might be wrong - but do you have the right VGA driver? I think it happened because I was using the standard VGA driver...

The robosavvy VGA driver is the only one that worked for me using nlite.

I am attempting to get linux up and running on my roboard now, windows isnt going to work for me on this platform and thats a bit of a pain since I am most comfortable using XP and have no (or very little) linux know-how. All the same I am looking forward to eventually getting things running on it...

I can get WinXP into the graphical part of the installation but then i leave it to 'do its thing' for about 2 hours and no advance on the time, 39 min.

Booting winXP SP2 slipstream and using an 8GB microSD HC Kingston card. the whole board is running at 6V, could this be a power issue and would speed up if i use 12V or higher?

When I used a slipstreamed sp3 I still had the same problem.

The solution that worked for me was to choose an option other than "Hide Pages" on the unattended install section - I'm not at my home pc at the moment so I cant tell you exactly what the choice is, something like "fully automatic" - "complete" but not "hide" which it defaults to (and which is the choice shown on the installation instructions PDF (XP_RB100_USB.pdf)

Step 24 has "Hide Pages" highlighted and this is the dropdown where there is a better choice and XP doesnt prompt you for anything until much later.

I went through this a couple of times before I noticed that...

Also, yes it does take some time to install onto the roboard but its ok once you are up and running.

Once it has finally installed and you are able to access it I personally found it useful to create a shared folder and enable remote desktop immediately so that I could work it from my main PC...

please use last version Windows XP SP3 suggest, the XP or XP SP1 doesnot support USB device when in installation step.

There is an issue with USB support during the graphic parts of the windows installation. There is a way to get windows to install without any prompting by you after you start the installation. Look that up, and you should be good...until the next problem. I found this by looking throught the how to install windows without a floppy sticky on the first page.

While WinXP is being installed, The agreement window is prompt and I want to select "I agree.." to continue but I can't press any key on keyboard and I try to press CAPS LOCK and NUM LOCK but the LED is not bright. I turn off the Roboard and turn on again but I find the same problem.

What should I do? T_T
