One of the major features of RB-110 is that it has six COM ports, two of which are provided by the on-board FTDI FT2232H chip.

RB-110 is designed for various AI servos with different serial speeds. The FT2232H allows max 12Mbps baudrate, and also allows flexible SPI & I2C access, which improves the drawback of RB-100's SPI interface.

The native COM ports (COM1~COM4) built in RB-110's CPU are also boosted to support max 750Kbps baudrate.

We have tested RB-110 on Bioloid AX-12+ servos; for reference, the results are listed as follows:

FT2232H COM ports with 1Mbps baudrate:

the average time for accessing an AX-12+ is about 2ms (by setting FT2232H's Latency Timer to 1ms).

RB-110's native COM ports with 115200bps baudrate:

the average time for accessing an AX-12+ is about 2ms. (This is interested; it is because the native COM ports have less latency delay in contrast to the USB FT2232H.)

RB-110's native COM ports with 500Kbps baudrate:

the average time for accessing an AX-12+ is about 1.2ms. (This is almost the minimum time to access an AX-12+ servos, because the responding time of AX-12+ is about 1ms.)
Statistics: Posted by roboard — Fri Apr 16, 2010 4:25 am
