I don't know what kind of speech recognition you're looking for; if it's just recognizing pre defined commands, you can also use a dedicated external board such as VRbot/easyVR http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... cts_id/571

It's quite small, connects over TTL serial and has a very clean serial interface that signals whenever a command is recognized.

This would free up processing power power on the Roboard and avoid the need to be running SAPI or any of those CPU consuming processes if you're just looking for simple speech recognition.

You can get voice recognition to work on the RB-100 using Microsoft's SAPI 5 libraries, but you will have problems with the integrated C-Media USB audio controller using CPU. We need a MiniPCI sound card for better performance, but there are currently none of these in production anywhere (I'm working on a design, but it will be a while before I get boards made).
