Thanks for your responses!

It seems there's more than enough expansion capability for what I need. I like the idea of housing the existing head within the upper-body, especially if you wanted more D.O.F. up above.

My goal is simalar to the work done in this article http://robosavvy.com/Forums&file=viewtopic&p=6091, except I'll be mounting a set of stereo cameras.

OK. I think I have enough information for now.

The RCB3 supports 24 Channels and 19 are used.

If its any use..

Channels 5, 9, 22,23 and 24 are free.

There is a rather large space in the centre of the re-designed upper body that might be useful but the switch is a bit close.

I was considering putting the head servo inside the casing so I could attach a more realistic looking head , I think it would go but the switch would definitely have to relocate.

With out one in front of me I can't quit remember but I think about 3/4.

you would need a voltage regulator to turn the voltage down to 5V.

That's good to know, however could you tell me what my options are? (i.e. How many additional servo slots or other control slots are available on KHR-1HV's controller board?

to use one of the standard servos is a waste for the head as you just don't need that amount of torque. the advantage of using a smaller servos is the saving of weight and money.

Hello,

How many additional servo slots are available for the KHR-1HV? Have all the extra servo slots been used up by the two new hip joints?

I would like to add one extra D.O.F. to the head without loosing any limbs
