As the robot size shrinks, the torque required goes down, which is why the i-SOBOT works so well and is so cheap. It will be interesting to see once they release more information on it.
Statistics: Posted by tempusmaster — Sun Sep 30, 2007 3:28 pm

If you're torn between the KHR's and the Robonova, definitely take software and community support into consideration. I like the mechanical aspects of the current Kondo line (plus I think they look cooler ), but the software is kind of buggy and Kondo refuses to update the English version. However, if you can read Japanese, you're good to go

Robonova on the other hand has a huge, thriving community and good software. I do like Kondo's graphical programming environment, though. I only wish they'd do a bit more work to maintain the English version.

Also, Robophilo is going to be pretty damn cool.
Statistics: Posted by Dave[TR] — Fri Sep 28, 2007 5:14 pm

Guys, come on now. These forums are for robotics - whether it be education, fun, projects - you name it. We don't really need to be arguing over where one picture or a link came from in someone else's thread - if you have concerns, pm a mod or the person it is concerning. Lets see a show of hands, who remembers fun?

-koganinja
It's great that you now have the opportunity to get one of these robots. Are you referring to the original KHR, or the KHR-1HV? The original seems to be somewhat obsoleted, while the KHR-1HV is top of the line (including nice plastic brackets, extra degrees of freedom and more). There is also the KHR-2HV which you can see on the TrossenRobotics site (personally, I would look around before buying - just to make sure you find exactly what you want).

The RN-1 is also a good robot (and an excellent choice for beginners in my experience). It has the capability of many additional addons and has a large community on robosavvy. I personally have no experience with the KHR robots, but have had an RN-1 before and can attest that it is a great place to start. The programming is relatively easy and uses catch and play to develop movements. While the HiTec servos aren't nearly as strong as the Kondo servos (for the HV series), it still can do many cool moves.

I think that with either robot you choose, you will have a great experience. If you search the general section of these forums you will find more info on other threads where this same question has been answered. Good luck with your choice!

-Hive
Statistics: Posted by hivemind — Sun Sep 23, 2007 4:42 pm

You have the nerve to bring up name calling...lol Here are YOUR comments you made to me.

"you are a paid troll " "you are just plain stupid" "Only an idiot or a troll would post links like that" "you stole images off the RoboPhilo site" "you don't seem to have actually bought and built any humanoid from anyone yet" ect.

First of all I have nothing to prove to you and soon you will be eating your words.I took the time to look at your post history and it seems you do allot of this. Frankly people like you aren't worth arguing with because that seems to be your goal. I have reported you to the admin and I refuse to be dragged into a argument with you and I will not respond to anymore of your post so please do not harass me any further.
Statistics: Posted by Droid Works — Sun Sep 23, 2007 6:33 am

The facts speak for themselves. All anyone has to do is to read through your posts on both sites.
Statistics: Posted by Ghostrider — Sun Sep 23, 2007 5:55 am
