tempusmaster.. Thanks for the up close picture. I remember Chrome Kid from robo one videos. I guess I didn't recognize him. He is one of my favorite robos next to Dr. Giy's Shiranui and omnizero.2. Thanks for all your documentation of the robos coming out of japan, it has been a great inspiration for me here in the US. Do you know of any sites containing information on any of the builders such as specs, pictures, bio's ?
Statistics: Posted by ATOM — Thu Feb 28, 2008 9:26 pm

It's a husband & wife team that are both top ROBO-ONE builders in addition to winning consistently in the KondoCup Robot Soccer competitions. They started off with stock kits, but have completely modified the robots and use higher torque Kondo servos.

Almost all of the better KondoCup soccer teams have moved up to higher torque servos. The stock low torque servos are okay for normal use, but soccer really puts some heavy demands on the servos, especially when they play two 3 minute matches back to back and then go into overtime.
Statistics: Posted by tempusmaster — Wed Feb 27, 2008 12:44 pm

I noticed your post a while back cool mod. I may copy your design in the future, after I get his legs built. It would be nice to upgrade the battery seeing as I will be drawing more power with his new legs.
Statistics: Posted by ATOM — Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:25 pm

For that reason i removed the battery from the chest and build it in the foot soles.
http://robosavvy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2024

No swinging back and forth of the upper body anymore due to the weight of the battery.
Statistics: Posted by Meltdown — Thu Feb 21, 2008 7:29 pm

Actually I thought the 1HV was a interesting design until I started to work with the robot. Looking back I maybe should have bought the 2hv but at least now I already have the 270* servo shoulders so I am still happy with my decision, plus I have the extra servos installed on the arms for rotating hands. So I wont be selling the servos anytime soon and most likely will build a custom robo with the servos after I get the new legs.
Statistics: Posted by ATOM — Thu Feb 21, 2008 5:08 am

These robots don't use the stock servos included in the commercial kits.
They all look like modified KHR with aftermarket servos.
The green/orange ones (KHR-1HV or modified Manoi?) more modified than the others.
The goalie looks like Manoi.
Notice that all robots in this vid are equally fast but the programming of the forward walking speed is different.
It looks to me that the KHR team choose to walk more slowly (programming) than the green/orange ones.
If you compare the side sliding walk then there's no difference in speed.
They all use the very expensive 30+ kg/cm aftermarket ones so that's why your kit won't be able to do this as fast.
Statistics: Posted by Meltdown — Tue Feb 19, 2008 12:29 am
