Hi, you might want to check out the Team Description Papers (TDPs) from past RoboCup competitions.

You find those from 2006 here:
http://www.humanoidsoccer.org/teams.html

and those from 2008 and 2009 here (select the year on the frame to the left):
http://www.tzi.de/humanoid/bin/view/Website/WebHome

I can´t find the 2007 TDPs right now. Most teams used PDAs with the smaller robots in the past years, which are even worse than Gumstix in terms of size and weight.

The RoboPatriot´s 2009 robot looks almost exactly like what you described (KHR-1HV, Gumstix):
http://www.cs.gmu.edu/~eclab/papers/robocup09tdp.pdf

Performance of the robot in qualification video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3Xzc-uBY5o
Statistics: Posted by SK — Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:24 pm

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any experience using a Gumstix controller with the KHR-1HV? We want to do some AI stuff, and are currently exploring the possibility of using the Verdex Pro XL6P, which has some pretty nice specs.

There are a few problems though. Firstly, there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of space for an extra controller, from what I can see. But it seems to have been done in competitions like Robocup. The power source is also an issue for us, we might need to add a voltage regulator, i.e extra circuitry. Was just wondering if anyone has added any similar custom modules to the robot, because I really have no idea where to place them.

Also, it would be nice if there are some sample source code for this. Since our focus is more on the AI rather than on the robot movements itself, I was wondering if we could use someone's source code as a start.

Thanks in advance.
Statistics: Posted by ellewaikay — Mon Jul 20, 2009 6:33 am
