You need at least 5 Amps!
Each servo can take as much as 1A each when under stress.
Statistics: Posted by Meltdown — Mon Aug 07, 2006 4:53 pm

Please note that it is not the same to charge than to power the robot. And is not the same to have a 1700mah battery than having a 1700 mA power supply. A battery can give plenty of current if needed but an ordinary power supply cannot. If you pretend to use a power supply as your power source, instead of using a battery, you can exceed easily the specifications of most power supplies. So be sure the power supply you use exceeds the current you need. I don't own a KHR2 but I would bet it takes much more than 2A many times even with moderate load.
Statistics: Posted by inaki — Mon Aug 07, 2006 3:36 am

I am using an old AT-power supply. For some reason it gives 11.3 volts on 12 volt line (yellow). KHR-2HV works well with it.

I made some simple movements, for example kneeing down and straighting up. On that movement with slow speed (SPEED about 150) the robot needed about 1.5A. Stand-by current (no movements and home position) was around 0.5A.
Statistics: Posted by heke — Sun Aug 06, 2006 8:01 pm

hello,

did any one work out the max current, I'm designing a circuit to turn the robot off when it hits 9v to save my li-pol battries. it's 1700mha so should give me plenty of play time. I'm designing it using 2A components and what to know if this is a good rating.

Something people with a khr-2HV might be interested in, I've put a 5V regulater on the prototype board and using it to power and old servo for the head and other old e.g. 5V, parts like PING))).

Bren
Statistics: Posted by Robo1 — Mon Jul 31, 2006 1:41 pm

so 6hrs x 50mAh = 300mAh = stock batt - is this right? (actually the stock charger says 13.5v@30MA rating so I guess 10 hours?) The other wallwarts are from various electronic items, one having 12v 1A rating which I'm assuming low?
Statistics: Posted by zulu — Wed Jul 12, 2006 1:59 am

The wallworts trickle charge at a very slow rate (perhaps 50maH ???). I charged mine overnight and I'm still on the first charge.
Statistics: Posted by rrdiaz30 — Wed Jul 12, 2006 1:38 am

Ha! good to know its not just my battery (KHR2 300mAh stock battery) I'll charge it for about 6 hours (how long should I charge it? First time I think the manual says up to 12?. It shows about about 12.70v when I take it off the charger and at about 10.5v the KHR2 refuses to move (maybe 9 min of playtime). I need to buy/rig an ac adapter too, I've got a few 12v 1A wallwarts lying around but I'm assuming it needs more - who owns a sliderule?
Statistics: Posted by zulu — Wed Jul 12, 2006 1:33 am

Hi All,

Does anyone know what the maximum current draw is on the KHR-2HV. I'm trying to build a power supply for one, but can't find the info anywhere. I'll sit down and work it our if required , but if anyone has already done it can you please let me know.

The battery i got with my kit doesn't hold a charge and i can't even calibrate my servos so i'm stuck half way through my build.
Statistics: Posted by TinMan — Tue Jul 11, 2006 10:40 pm
