I printed off the parts list and had this to hand whilst using the japanese manual to work out what part/screw etc was what. This coupled with the 2HV english manual enabled me to build it in about 7hrs. Hope this helps. Good luck

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THE KONDO KHR-1HV ENGLISH MANUAL. The box they shipped only includes the japanese version in the CD-ROM. I checked the kondo website and only found 2HV english version. I have emailed the technical support team of KONDO 2 weeks ago but didn't received any reply.

Personally, I like the new Kondo shells a little better than the AT01 body too, but some folks have pointed out that the Kondo body looks a lot like the face of the metallic robot cat from Tom & Jerry, while the head resembles a computer mouse. 8O

Interesting discovery... if you look on the PDF catalog for the 1HV (http://www.kondo-robot.com/pdf/07KONDO_catalog_S.pdf) on page 5 there is a picture on the right hand side of body parts that can be added ala the Manoi AT-01. I like them a bit better than the AT-01's body. They look less cartoonish. More like a "manly" robot! LOL It looks like it is designated for the 2KH, but it probably work with the 1HV.

RCB-3 vs RCB-3J

Can anybody tell me the difference between the RCB-3 and the 3J?

In the same theme, has anybody started to seriously understand the RCB-3 for purposes of writing alternatives to H2H? I have started analyzing the requirements, but I'm not a hardware guy so it's kind of heavy going trying to understand what the 3 "sets" are for in ICS mode.

Is there any interest in starting an RCB-3 section of the forum to share info?

Without getting too deeply into all the details, the KHR-1HV is basically a KHR-2HV plus:

1- The two additional DOF for the legs
2- RCB-3 instead of the RCB-3J
3- Beefier shoulder servos with more rotation (4024S-HV) only
4- The 'tub' feet/soles.

Those are all significant improvements and worth the added cost - at least IMHO.

The MANOI AT01 has fewer DOF and it isn't obvious that Kyosho/Kondo will come out with a similar leg DOF option in the future, though they are hinting about some option announcements that will be made next weekend at the Athlete Humanoid Cup competition here. Still, the AT01:

1- Uses the 4024S-HV servos throughout. The 4024 rotational range is 260 degrees versus the 180 degree range for the 788/786 servos. Since the 4024 dimensions/fit are identical to both the 4014 and 4013 servos, you can upgrade the servos to improve the torque by up to 4X without making any frame or body modifications. To do the same thing with the KHR-2HV or KHR-1HV you have to design and fabricate new frames.

2- The standard AT01 can be upgraded to add an additional DOF to each arm, and also hip rotation by simply adding the additional servos and some minor parts. It's all designed in and documented in the manual.

I'm planning to stop by Robo-Spot tomorrow evening since there's a robot soccer competition scheduled. They will definitely have the KHR-1HV doing some demos, so I'll see what other information I can dig up. 8O
