I recently came across a very interesting blog post on the Sketchup blog.
For those of you who don't know Sketchup yet, it's a freeware 3D modeling tool from Google that is REALLY easy to use and to get started with 3D modeling.
Last week, they've made a post about how Sketchup can be used as companion for personal Fabrication, for CNC and for 3D printing (additive printing).
The blog post actually mentions Makerbot and how to use Sketchup to make Solid 3D objects that can be printed on the Thing o Matic.
The post is lengthy but worth the read if you're into modeling your own 3D parts and want to stay out of the complexity of blender or SolidWorks.
