We've been through the Upgrade Path from MK5 to MK6 and finally to MK6 Plus.
We really like the Stepstruder MK6 Plus, for it's reliability, great performance and print quality and we're still using it in our office (despite the release of the MK7 which we're planning to try out in a few weeks on a Dualstrusion set up).
Therefore if you're looking to upgrade your extruder for good value (and don't care about Dualstrusion) we believe the MK6 path is a great way to do it.
It's future proof by supporting both 3mm and 1.75mm filament and has proven very reliable in the field. The latest addition of Heating Cartridge and Aluminum Thermal core (in the MK6 Plus version) have really improved thermal performance and overall print quality even more.
