Just letting evryone know that my Mk7 extruder problems are solved. Robosavvy, very professionally, replaced my EC board and Motherboard having lisened to my explanation of what was happening. I had the conversation at 13.00 on Thursday and the new parts were on my doorstep at 9.00 the following morning. Outstanding service!
I then proceeded to shoot myself in the foot having made and installed a ribbon cable between the EC & the MB that shouldn't have been there. This really spoiled my day and caused all sorts of problems with temperature control. The Makerbot Google group tried all sorts to help but in the end I went back to the schematic and spotted what I'd done. I felt so stupid !!
The machine is now printing away beautifully and I am really bonding with it !!
Thanks Robosavvy and all who have racked their brains over this!
Statistics: Posted by killerwhat — Sun Jan 08, 2012 6:47 pm

Hi killerwhat

In these situations we recommend you contact your place of purchase or Makerbot's (excellent) support team on support@makerbot.com

They're able to offer you direct advice.

The problem you mention is clearly identified as well as the solution.
You should check the following:

1) Make sure a Molex connector from the PSU is connected to the extruder controller. (the EC needs direct power form the PSU; people sometimes forget to connect this cable).

2) Try connecting the RJ45 cable on the other RJ45 port on the motherboard.
On the Makerbot build instructions there are some pictures that show the cable connected to the WRONG connector on the motherboard.

3) If none of the above fixes the issue then the solution is usually to replace both the Motherboard and the Extruder Controller.
You need to contact Makerbot support or your place of purchase to obtain these parts.

Kind Regards
Pedro.
Statistics: Posted by PedroR — Fri Jan 06, 2012 5:51 pm

Hello everyone. I have just built a T-O-M with Mk7 stepstruder & HBP. It went really well but my extruder controller isn't being 'seen' by ReplicatorG. There are many posts on their website relating to this issue but none of the advice has worked or me. I have spent 2 days on this, reflashing its firmware, reconnecting just about everything there is to re-connect, all to no avail. Desperate for help here !!!
Statistics: Posted by killerwhat — Thu Jan 05, 2012 11:29 am
