Turns out WowWee (company behind Robosapien/Roboraptor) is involved in the development of the non-cat version of this thing with Philips. It now has a name - SCOTY - Smart Companion Operating Technology<br /><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/07/wowwee-scoty-robot-media-hub/" class="postlink"><img src="http://www.engadget.com/media/2006/03/wowweescoty.jpg" alt="Image" /></a><p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="http://forum.robosavvy.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=2">limor</a> — Thu Mar 09, 2006 11:52 pm</p><hr />

It appears that Philips has a backup plan. There's a non-cat version of this thing.<br /><br /><a href="http://dsc.discovery.com/news/briefs/20050718/homerobot.html" class="postlink"><img src="http://dsc.discovery.com/news/briefs/20050718/gallery/homerobot_zoom.jpg" alt="Image" /></a><p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="http://forum.robosavvy.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=2">limor</a> — Tue Jul 19, 2005 10:42 pm</p><hr />

The personal robotics companion challenge is no longer a Japanese craze. <img src="http://forum.robosavvy.com/images/smilies/icon_exclaim.gif" alt=":!:" title="Exclamation" /> <br /><br />Philips (a Dutch multinational company in case you didn't know) are about to launch a robotic talking quadraplegic cat.<br />As the videos clearly show, unlike with normal cats, interaction with the beast does not necessitate the use of antihistamine. However, a sledge hammer can come in handy.<br /><a href="http://www.research.philips.com/technologies/syst_softw/robotics/index.html" class="postlink"><img src="http://robosavvy.com/Builders/limor/icat-3.jpg" alt="Image" /></a><p>Statistics: Posted by <a href="http://forum.robosavvy.com/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&amp;u=2">limor</a> — Fri Jul 15, 2005 1:37 am</p><hr />
