Hi all

We're back from Makerfaire.

We've still got a lot of cool pics and videos to post which we'll most likelly do tomorrow but for now I'd just like to report our experience:

- On day 1 we've had Orac exhibiting his Sir Kitt Robot http://robosavvy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3491
and NovaOne also came by with his Robobuilder 5710K with metal Brackets and performing some nice dancing moves!

We also took our newest gadgets - the Bioloid GP and the Thing o Matic 3D Printer - which were a huge success.

By the end of the day people were passing by to see us "making things" in real time the Makerbot and asking us "I heard you have a robot that can do the cartwheel; can I see that?"

Indeed the GP comes with programming for 3 different tasks: Football, Fight and Demo.
In Demo mode we have the coolest moves such as the cartwheel, some nice pushups, a 2 arm handstand with pushups.
I'm nto sure if we have a video of that but if not we'll do it here and post it. It's really quite cool!

By the end of the day our Thing o Matic (one of the first units that still shipped witht he MK5 extruder and not the new MK6) had an extruder motor fail. Well not a complete failure but one that led us into some late night troubleshooting.

By the beginning of day 2 Makerbot was back working again (fixed without any spare parts as we hadn't taken any...) so we had to get creative.

Day 2 was calmer with not so many people (day 1 was packed!). On day 2 we also had NovaOne only as Orac couldn't be there.

Finally, an honorable mention to Robobuilder and the Wild Thumper. Robobuilder worked all day 2 waving at the people who passed by (simple Action program using the distance sensor)

The Wild Thumper impressed people with it's Arduino coupled with a powerfull H bridge capable of delivering 15Amps X 2 channels (a total of 30 amps).

The battery (that we include in the Wild Thumper kit) was powerfull enough to last through the whole event despite us playing around with it quite a lot during the whole 2 days.

Stay tunned for pics and videos our stand and also a small coverage of Makerfaire coming in the next days!

RoboSavvy
Statistics: Posted by robosavvy — Tue Mar 15, 2011 7:04 pm

We've got a minibus-load of people coming up from London. I'll have to come visit my Robobuilder's maker!

Seeing how a Thing-o-matic and a RepRap compare will be interesting too!
Statistics: Posted by Felix — Thu Mar 03, 2011 2:12 pm
