Yeah, your SavvyBot is really cool. I'd love to see what it can do in a quiet environment where the SR can work!

Thanks for the inside scoop on Dynamixel Pro and Nimbro-OP, too. Both look like great developments.
Statistics: Posted by Joe — Fri Oct 12, 2012 11:41 pm

nice editorial. keep it up!

btw1: the NAO photographer is nice but have you seen our social nao implementation ?

btw2: I just met the Dynamixel Pro servos and Nimbro-OP at the IROS robotics conference. The servos are industrial grade with such a monster torque that a self colliding robot arm with these servos can easily genera a black hole that will implode the servos and the arm. The Nimbro-OP has quite an impressive list of features. Its creator, Prof. Sven Behnke, is probably the most experienced Robotcup humanoid league participant to be found.
Statistics: Posted by limor — Fri Oct 12, 2012 9:38 pm

I hope I will be forgiven a plug, but I thought that readers here might want to know about this.

I've recently started a new blog at BotScene.net, dedicated to humanoid robotics. My particular focus is on American humanoid hobby robots, but I cover significant developments worldwide and in government & industry as well as the hobby scene. At BotScene.net you'll find news, videos, product reviews, and commentary that any builder of humanoid (or other legged) robots may find useful and interesting. Some of this is based on news you may find elsewhere, while other posts (e.g. product reviews) will be entirely original content.

Some recent posts (at the time of this writing) include:

    University of Bonn's NimbRo-OP
Chris Farrell launches epic robot combat RTS/FPS game
22nd Robo-One Competition Announced

I hope you'll enjoy the blog. If you have any suggestions on how I can make it better, or news tips you want to share, please send them to me via this forum, or post a comment on the blog's About page.

Thanks, and happy humanoid hacking!
- Joe
Statistics: Posted by Joe — Wed Oct 10, 2012 4:12 pm
