The hitec battery charger is rated as follows:<br /><br />input: 100-240VAC 50/60Hz<br />Output: 6VDC/1A<br /><br />The battery pack inside Robonova-1 is<br />1A 6V 5 Cell<br /><br />A battery eliminator with an output which is stable that does not go over 6 volts should work. However, Hitec has determined the voltage exceeds this value from its charger and cannot be used in place of the batteries.<br /><br />I purchased a high quality battery eliminator with a stable output at 6 volts and have run this in tandom with a 6-volt battery pack on my second humanoid robot without any problems. I often run the humanoid for half days during programming, testing, and running through the motions with servos. It's an idea that has worked well. I may port this over this unit to RN at some time in the future.<br /><br />I've also used long feed wires from a bench power supply that I built some years ago. The output is regulated and stable. It works well with a recharged battery pack so they don't run down during use, and works well without the batteries too. DON'T the internal passthrough of current will let your stalled servo fry because with both power sources there is to much current available. the hot servos will smoke! and the wait for repairs is getting longer.And that's if Hitec warranties them. If they don't it takes putting in an order for another, and make sure you order the right rotation to replace the one that smoked. take it easy. I've had the thigh servo smoke while I was downloading a program as RN-! squatted. I'm waiting for a servo now. I had a charger that would not full charge RN's battery pack. It should last an hour with no problems unless you run heavy routines with onboard accys. HITEC sent me a new one after I sent the old one in, it had a connection problem. While I waited I used a novac millenium pro charger since that had a Ni-MN profile. Hi,<br /><br />as the battery of the Robonova-1 does not hold very long, I'd like to connect the power cable while I do some tests on my robot or set zero points or insert new moves into my program.
