I recently sold a Surveyor SRV-1 tracked robot on Ebay. It had quite promising mobile web viewing abilities and was a zigbee device for which there's been some chat about here recently so it might be of interest.
http://www.surveyor.com/SRV.html
I also have an Aibo 210. This has web remote functions with add on software packs and I've had great fun annoying my family and carbon based dog forms running 'Figo' around the house on four legs. So far as I understand the latest (and last) incarnation of the Aibo had this ability built in. The aibo's use your basic wireless network but lag isn't too bad.

Ric
Statistics: Posted by Ric — Fri Jun 22, 2007 6:30 pm

For an internal house robot platform that you could use for security and other things I would suggest a wheeled platform not bi-pedal.

You should be able to create a very good house rembot using wheels and not legs right now. When you bring legs into the design you have to dedicate alot of time and effort in just making the bot walk, let alone design navigation software.
Statistics: Posted by DirtyRoboto — Thu Jun 21, 2007 9:22 am

I was thinking about your point Gort (to use RN as a guard) but the only problem I see in it is not the programming of it but the BATTERY!

Charles.
Statistics: Posted by JavaRN — Wed Jun 20, 2007 10:21 pm

What I think would be cool. Is you can have your robot walk around the house when you are not at home like a security guard. Then you could watch video and control him through a phone or a computer. Like they do with UAV's. The other idea is that I just send my robot to the robo games next and control him from home. The only problem will be the time lag.
Statistics: Posted by Gort — Wed Jun 20, 2007 10:02 pm

I claim this idea (but I guess I will get flamed or see a company starts doing this while I stay poor!!!)

Reading these posts about controlling the RN over the net got me thinking. How about Robot battles where people operate combat RN's, KRH's remotely over the web.
You would provide several camera feeds of the arena and allow basic movement and combo's of combat moves. You could also allow betting on the match.

M.
Statistics: Posted by DirtyRoboto — Wed Jun 20, 2007 9:37 pm
