I couldn't be happier! Thank you Tony. Service like that makes it all that more clear that I made the right choice in picking the RN-1.
Statistics: Posted by bauermech — Fri Apr 21, 2006 3:20 am

Alright, I had to wait until today to visit the shop. All the employees were out Saturday enjoying the wonderful weather we've been having, and flying their planes and racing their off-road-ers. And Sunday was, of course, Easter.
As suspected, Hitec doesn't offer the titanium gear-set yet, and the karbonite are on back-order. I resorted in ordering a new servo instead, and will be here Wednesday. They put in an order for gear-sets in hopes when they become available, they'll have some in stock as I begin to strip out more servos .
Statistics: Posted by bauermech — Mon Apr 17, 2006 10:31 pm

Well I finally did it...
No, my servo's not hot, just striped (didn't want to start a new topic for someting so small). After HEAVY use since early February, the left ankle servo gears gave in. "pop!" Running to the hobby shop now to see about some titanium replacements... I don't think Hitec offers any for the HSR-8498's, so may have to stick with the karbonite gears.
As always, here's a very short video!
http://robosavvy.com/Builders/bauermech/servobroke.wmv
Statistics: Posted by bauermech — Sat Apr 15, 2006 6:03 pm

I think that even if you plug it in backwards you will not damage the servo. The power pin is in the center so flipping it keeps that in the same position and puts the 3024 return on the servo cmd and puts the 3024 signal on the servo return. I would suspect that it was an important design decision since they would get a bad rep even though people were screwing up.
Maybe you just got a bum servo?
Statistics: Posted by subpilot — Sat Mar 11, 2006 6:16 am
