Limor I saw that your larger 2000mAh single cell LiPos are 5.8mm x 54mm x 54mm .... I can make the "BigFoot" spacing even wider ... easily give 55mm spacing between the side rails ... and I think there'd still be enough surface for 5-minute epoxy to hold them onto the bottoms of the RoboNova-1's ...

If somebody wants to order a set for testing with the bigger batteries ... just ask and I'll cut a set special. But you still have to buy them.

The vertical spacing seems perfect for these cells. Almost anything ... even a piece of paper can wedge in to hold the batteries from slipping around ... or maybe a simple rubber binder wrapped around the cell before it's pressed into position?

I like to keep things like this as simple as I can ...

Was sent a full set of shoes plus spacers, pictures shows just a mock up of the boots with out the 2mm spacers. Not glued them together as I am waiting for the battery so I can get the right dimensions. I'm in the process of ordering a 6V converter and a 7.2V LiPo cell battery. Would make life easier if you add pictures of you products on a RN. This goes for is product as well as your other ones (servo bracket back to back).

If you want a kit, send me the money ... I just sent one kit to the UK 1st class mail for and additional $3.60. That's a total charge of $28.60 for a BigFoot Kit + Spacers + S&H.

1st class mailing in the USA is FREE.

I have't sent any kits to Europe or Asia yet.

Yes you can also send payment via PayPal to wperko@brainless.org but you must add $2 PayPal Handling Charges ...

Or, wait minimum 10 day's before I ship and send a personal check or postal money order. I have to have the bank clear checks and MOs.

How will this affect the stock RN moves, walking, and other motions, and with a gyro in place? Will these be shipped international along with optional LIPOs?

This is a forum, a place where people can post ideas, and others will comment and criticize. So since the topic seems to have wandered off a bit, I will add my own analysis of your LiPo feet.

Lets start with with positive:

Having LiPos in the robot adds a much needed battery life.

It lowers the center of gravity to make the robot more stable.

They remain the same xy-size (footprint).

The feet are cheap.

And the not so positive (imo):

By having LiPos in the feet, the balance can be thrown far off when trying to walk.

The extra weight at the end of the leg can cause extra stress to all of the leg servos

There must be another extra wire coming up from the foot to the hip section of the robot

Added height in the foot can cause the robot to have less balance, and also will cause the foot rotation angle to be offset

By having such a weight in the foot, they actually make the robot less humanoid than before (by definition...as humans don't have heavy feet nor do we store excessive energy in them)
Of course things could be added to either list, but I believe that what I have up here is a reasonably fair assessment. So my conclusion (as I have already stated) would be that since these feet make the robot less humanoid, ergo I would not put them on my own robot. I have seen other robots with LiPos in their feet, and imo they did not work as well because it is a lot harder to move then entire leg with the LiPo's weight in the foot.

Hmm, I don't think that this means we shouldn't try to get our humanoid robots as humanlike as possible though... While I agree that the RN-1 is far from being a human, it can be 'like' one in the sense that weight is distributed similarly, it moves in a similar fashion and can interact with its environment much in the same way people do.

Now here we are now.

I would hate to see one of you "buy" from him only not to get the item.

Yes, his social mannerisms are a bit skewed and his web sites and choice of names are outlandish but he surely realizes that there's not much to gain by selling fake $20 humanoid robot shoes hence he may be doing this for the community from the goodness of his heart.

In addition, lets not forget one thing. Last year he induced amazing creative comedy from some forum members that were epitomized by the funniest Captain Crunch humanoid videos ever seen on youtube. Worth every green font character that are the hallmark of his postings.
