I tried an experiment. Yeah, that's another thing... My carpet is actually a dense rug. There's no padding underneith. This is where the ability to "rotate" the leg at the hip will come in handy. The Robotis bioloid has this capability. I am sure it is possible to mod the Robonova with that functionality by adding two servos (the board can support 8 more?).<br /><br />Robonova will become slightly taller as a result and the existing maps can still be used as long as the new servos are brought into the initial state before activating the "action sequences". <br /><br />Gait can also be enhanced by the addition of the two servos in the hip. <br /><br />Parts:<br /><br />2 x servo<br />2 x brackets<br />screws<br /><br />There is no room in the torso so you need to extend the hip region of the torso to accomodate the servos. Just made this video of RN-1 on my living room floor, which has carpet.  He's fully charged.
