I must agree with Humanoido, as I have seen him on a couple of other forums, the Penguin is a great little guy and is probably what piqued my interest again in getting back into robotics. It is such a great field and you meet all kinds of the most interesting and intelligent folks in the world.

I use both types of the cable proctection stuff in all my helicopters and thought it would work great on the Robonova.

Carl
Statistics: Posted by quickster47 — Fri Sep 28, 2007 11:40 am

Yeah, the biped really rocks!!!

There's actually 2 main types of wire cable protectors. One looks more like a flexible fabric, though it's probably woven knit polyester or similar. The other is a poly wrap that spirals around the cable. The latter is the one I used. Later, I found the other kind and bought that too.

The spiral kind can be placed over the wire cables without removing them, while the other requires some disassembly, though not too difficult. Both types bend very easy.

humanoido
Statistics: Posted by Humanoido — Fri Sep 28, 2007 9:49 am

Dude those are awesome!
As for Robonova-1, I should get some spiral protectors for them.
But do they bend good?

Thanks!
Statistics: Posted by kevdemed — Fri Sep 21, 2007 9:36 pm

I doubt they will tell you anything about your servos.
In fact, they may just swap them for new ones. You're
making the assumption that they'll repair them, and
that may not necessarily hold true.

If you're interested in a biped, take a look at this one.
This one really rocks, and programming is in a version
of BASIC.

PENGUIN SOCCER
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Duxpxu4Bhs

PENGUIN HAPPY DANCE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9owSIXhh_Mo

PENGUIN DOES THE ROBOT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpH3ZsNwBn8

PENGUIN ROLLER SKATE DANCE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_H3teQdxxw

My other recommendation is Robonova-1. It has
some of the best software when considering humanoids.
You can prevent wire damage by wrapping the cables with
spiral protectors.

humanoido
Statistics: Posted by Humanoido — Fri Sep 21, 2007 11:56 am

If I sent my servos back to get fixed, will they tell me what happen to it when they send it back?
Also.
Christmas is coming up.
What robot would you recommend for a beginner at programming?
(I hope its a humanoid or biped!)
It's hard to learn when your still trying to pick up on math.
I would think the Bioloid would be nice to practice on because the frames are made of plastic and might not damage the wires as much.
That's my novas problem.
Oh!
One more thing.
Does anyone know of a school or college that offers robot classes or programing around the California area?
It could even be a club or something simple.
Anyway, keep building!
Statistics: Posted by kevdemed — Fri Sep 21, 2007 10:01 am
