Yes the control is bidirectional. It uses the HMI protcol which is described by Hitec on heir web sites, and discussed in other parts of this forum.

The C3024 uses this feature to read the servo positions for the GETSERVOSET or MOTORIN commands.
Statistics: Posted by i-Bot — Mon Oct 29, 2007 2:18 pm

The servo outputs on the C3024 will drive any servo such as the S3003. You may not get the 180 degree angle range, and they are more jittery under load. Of course the mechanical fixings are also different from the HSR8498 servos

It would be very difficult to build a biped based on the S3003 or similar analog servos. The HSR8498 is much more powerful, digital, and has position feedback. The cheapest way to buy 16 good robot servos is to buy the RoboNova kit, or maybe a Bioloid if you want more flexibility in you design.

If you just want to add a servo to say turn the head, then a low cost servo is OK, but not for real muscle.

If you are considering the C3024 to control servos in configurations other than Biped, then be aware that the Robobasic software is really tailored to just the RoboNova.

To control a number of S3003 or similar low cost servos, I consider the Lynxmotion SCC-32 to be a better option, with better general software support at much lower cost. Thay also offer the mechanics to support the other servos.
Statistics: Posted by i-Bot — Mon Oct 29, 2007 10:48 am
