Hey NewBreed
You could always try fitting in an E.C.B.G.S if you're looking for new challenges.
Statistics: Posted by Ric — Sun Nov 18, 2007 10:42 pm

Yeah... aren't you doing that? lol So would it be best to get the HSR-5498SG or just go all crazy like Matt did and get the HSR-5990TG, I mean I could maybe buy 2 at a time but if you think sometime next year theres going to be a better servo somewhere. I am going to start adding some extra DOF to the hips and the knees pretty much an overhaul...Should I stick with Hitec if I am going to do a Custom biped?
Statistics: Posted by NewBreedWarrior — Wed Nov 14, 2007 8:01 pm

if you want some challenges, try finding a new controller (or a hacked MR3024) that will allow you to read the servo positions and current load 30 times/sec using the HMI protocol and create a close-loop control environment using a gumstix as the brain to power a neural network that will evolve the perfect stable fast walk on uneven terrain.

Statistics: Posted by limor — Wed Nov 14, 2007 2:59 am

Ok my friend. So now you are saying you have mastered the RN1 basic form and are getting bored.
What you could do now is set yourself some goals for you and your robot to acheive.

Have you made any of the following custom move types...
Fighting.
Dancing.
Pickup and drop.
Throw.
Stair climb.
Gymnastics/workout.

Do you have grippers? If not you can make some.

Could you enter a contest with what you know?
-----------------

I am looking at getting another RN so I can develop my fight skills better, by having my own bouts I can test in a real environment or let my friends challenge me.
Statistics: Posted by DirtyRoboto — Wed Nov 07, 2007 12:56 pm

Don't bother with the Bioloid unless you have a lot of time and money to spend on a better controller and software.

The software limitaions that come with any of the Robotis software makes you really appreciate the Robonova basic and that ain't saying too much.

Plus with the Bioloid you must deal with a whole new bus for the AX-12s unless you change things significantly.

And there are even less add-ons for the Bioloid because of the bus and its' interface requirements.

Carl
Statistics: Posted by quickster47 — Tue Nov 06, 2007 12:29 pm

I've been working with a gumstix for a couple of months and love it differently the way to go. But you will need to find a way off producing the PWM. I've also upgraded to openservo so I can just use the i2c on the gumstix. Have you thought about a camera!

Bren
Statistics: Posted by Robo1 — Tue Nov 06, 2007 11:25 am

So yeah, you got your new tilt sensor(s), gyro(s), volt reg, blah blah blah ect... I just seemed to have hit a wall, with nothing for my little guy to do. Is the new servos HSR-5990TG and HSR-5498SG going to make up for the lack of the MR-C3024, I need a good board or would going with gumstix to control it from my old laptop be a better way? With that said still the issue with hacking the MR-C3024 to program in a still seemingly effort of unknown way. I hate robobasic and want a new way, any suggestions? I've almost opted for a bioloid kit, but still another board limited.
Statistics: Posted by NewBreedWarrior — Tue Nov 06, 2007 6:47 am
