It depends on the Keyspan version used.
Mine works on both Mac and PC XP and Robonova
with no problem.

Try one compatible with USA-19qi.
That should do the trick!

Follow up to last post.

Turns out that the serialclient post I had found was about a year older than I thought ... d'oh!

Anyway, the following has worked for me (downloaded overall template to RN from Robobasic successfully 2/2 times so far).

Since this was the first thing I had really needed parallels for, perhaps it will be the same for someone else too, so a little extra info might be included that you might want to ignore if you're already good to go with parallels .

0. Install Parallels
1. Install WinXp
2. Whilst virtual machine (VM) is off, edit the configuration to add a serial port at /tmp/serial that is a socket server.
3. Start the VM
4. Whilst logged in to VM, select from the Mac-side parallels toolbar: Actions...Install Parallels Tools
5. After installing Parallel Tools, perform clean shutdown of VM (start ... shutdown).
6. Restart the Mac
7. Install the Mac drivers for the USB converter on the serial side
8. Start Parallels but not the VM
8. Check in the VM configuration (Edit ... Virtual Machine) that the serial converter is attached to the Guest OS
9. Start the VM
10. Plug in the USB adaptor
11. Should be good to go.

Hi there

I'm just assembling my RN-1 and, being a new macbookpro owner, am reading up on how to use the supplied software with a Mac. Heres's rehash so far . . . sorry no results to report yet (install in progress).

Following the advice in this older thread it looks like adding a serial port to the virtual machine is required.

Whilst wondering what serial port settings to use (following), I stumbled across this recent post on another site that suggests using a program called serialclient to force Mac Os-X to hand over control to Windows.

I'll let you know how I get on . . .

I've been using one with my Bioloid under XP and 10.5. What are the symptoms? When I first set it up, I had to remove a weird entry in the Device Manager. You might check the knowledgebase on the Keyspan site for steps.

i 'tried' using a keyspan adaptor with my mac set-up, but it never worked - a cheap 'lindy' one did the trick.

Hi im using the converter on both my XP pc and laptop running on Vista, both work fine. have you down loaded the updates from there site? try uninstalling and reinstalling the programme. you do need to setup the com's port to, think the programme has an auto set !! yes just looked run the Keyspan Serial Assistant programme that should set it up for you.

I am having trouble getting Windows XP to recognize this Keyspan USB adaptor (with Bootcamp/PS 10.5). Have also tried Parallels XP emulator, same issue I think. Anyone also having this problem?
