Robonova Carry Case

Sorry to bring up this 1 week old topic, but i was looking around the Hitec Robotics shop and I found this:

$17 carrying case. Doesn't have any pictures of the inside. And its made out of fabric which makes it cheaper. I still think its worth it to pay an extra $13 and get an aluminum case which you can cut fit whatever stuff you want and where. If anyone is on a budget for a case, I would suggest checking this one out. Doesn't seem too bad.

Can you show a picture of the interior of the case?
the ones indexed by google show only the exterior. in the specs it says "Uses Diced Foam Dividers or Adjustable Padded Dividers", does it come with foam or you add that separately ?

i've added it to the Robonova Wiki (to contribute to the Wiki use the word aibo)

Suddenly, I realized that RN carry case is relevant when I can't immediately find one and settled instead for the amazon.com box when I had to bring my RN at the emergency room of Robopark

Yes, it does come with foam. The bottom section is "gridded"...perforated into little squares that can easily be removed to form a "cut-out" for your robot and such. The top layer is your standard "egg-crate" foam. Behind that is a little tool/accessory holder, which is removable so you can store things like a manual (or other thin stuff) behind it.

I just use a 10 tool box for my robots. add in some foam and your all good. Something with a lock is probably best though so it cant be easly opened. At $1000us it sure would make a nice action figure for a 5 year old.

I put my dude in here. It's pretty inexpensive ($30 USD at Lowes). The brand is 'TaskForce' and resembles a pro's camera case. Has an aluminum sheet ...er more like textured foil skin over hard-board. Impact resintant lined innards. And as you can see, dividers and lots of foam that can be manipulated into creating any size void you wish. Unfortunately, it's not waterproof, and I wouldn't take it on a plane, but for the price, it sure stacks up.

I want to purchase a proper carry case for my RN but I may need help choosing the right one:

What I have done for temporary storage and transport is cut out a few sections of the Hitec case so that the RN-1 can fit in real snug. Works well but I question the durability. Besides - I also want the case to be water-proof etc. etc. The foam inserts are also nice.

I will need room for:

* Robot
* Remote
* Sensors
* Multimeter
* Cables/CD/Manual
* Optional parts (gripper, slasher, chainsaw or whatever else Matt comes up with )

Any suggestions?
