I also heard that Akihabara is the place to go. I think it would be cool to walk into a store that specialized in selling humanoid robots. Now that's worth some photos! I wish I had a Gogic 5 soooooo much!

DirtyRoboto, sorry to hear you had a bad experience there. Services in Japan are usually top-knotch (I was born and raised there) and this must be an isolated incident. I say don't let a couple of bad apples bug you and enjoy your staty in Japan.

Are you going to visit the "robo gym?" I think it's in Akihabara somewhere, a place where a bunch of people play with their humanoid...

Roppongi is another great place to visit, lots of night-life kinda stuff there...

I was in Tsukome the other day and ended up getting a couple of servos just for kudos points as the price was no different then in europe.

The had a great range of spares but the prices were silly. Various brands of brackets were priced in the same band as some of the cheaper servos.

They had a bog standard range of bot platforms on display, everything that you can get in EU and USA for the same if not cheaper price. The only boon was the selection of little robot toys and kits that are not as available as the main bot platforms in our neck of the woods.
They had Hi-tec touch/sound/light sensors but they were silly prices if you understand the components. You would be better off walking down the stairs and into one of the component boutiques were you can find the same parts for a fraction of the price.

The staff were abit snooty with me untill I bought the servos and asked for a tax rebate. The guy that served me was more interested in some cosplay girl that walked into the joint. He gave her a full KRH2 demo and then she walked out without buying and he totally ignored me when I asked in japanese to look at the Hi-tec selection.

I will go back with a camera to get some pics for you guys but they have totally lost any respect from me. No more money for them.

While in Akihabara, you've gotta' find Tsukumo... it's real close to the station. And if you hit up RT Corp., please say "Hi" to Nakagawa-san for me Robots-Dreams has a good map. Speaking of, you should shoot Lem an e-mail letting him know you're there. He makes it over to those parts periodically.

Hi guys, I thought i'd update you all. I have both my RN's in storage so have not been very active.
I flipped a coin and decided to come to Tokyo on a whim. I have just arrived today and am staying near Ueno park and I am not that far from Akihabara so I expect to do alot of shopping there. I am over here for about 3 months if all goes well and will keep you updated.
