Modified Robonova before insertion inside puppet

A torque limiting servo is a very good idea, but shy of replacing every servo on Robonova, what options do we have?

As an alternative, the servo speed can be closely regulated, and high inertial situations can be avoided or reprogrammed.

No, but soon ...in the next month or two....sorry i'm very slow.

I believe your project is much more interesting....in fact maybe the future of this size of humanoid robot...I remember reading somewhere about something similar needing torque limiting clutches to protect the servos?

The height is now 50cm - 20 inches

The torso plates cost approx £80 for the drawings and both plates, but cheaper now that the drawing labour time taken out of the equation, probably about £30 the pair (front and back).

Hi NovaOne

No I'm going to leave the control board as is for ease of access and I feel (fingers crossed) that the padding on the soft toy body will protect the board.

To get to the board the character puppet wears a pair of trade mark pink pants! We're going to leave an opening in the seam inside of the pants so that we can get in when we need to.

Your Robonova sounds interesting with five extra servos can we see a video of him anywhere?

Nice engineering.

Are you going to put the control board inside the new torso to protect it?

How are you going to program and control "Him" once he is covered?

It feels a little heavy, I'll weight it, test it, and post a video of the success or failure... It could all end in tears.

The weight issue is becoming a problem for me too (@1.8Kg),with 5 extra servos....ie you may have to upgrade some or all of the leg servos to HSR-5498's I hope I'm wrong $$$:?

This is really impressive! RN looks very tall - what is its full height now?

Was it very expensive to have the torso plate made at the machine shop?

I really look forward to seeing the vids!

Hi Humanoido

I basically took the original torso design and moved the hip servo centres down by 85mm and out by 4mm each side, should have perhaps moved them out further. Will know more after some test manouvres.

Had a local engineering company draw and lazer fabricate the aluminium.

I made a couple of mistakes but will rectify next time round ( I might be making more of these!)

1 The battery plate insert was still in the original position, I moved it down very quickly and crudely with a small drill on its return, it works though and also didnt take into acount the length of the servo wires so had to re drill the control board fixing holes lower.

Non of the appertures were threaded either, but drilled them slightly undersize and then cut threads where necessary with the existing screws.

Maybe the file is too big.

Try opening the file with an editing tool and saving it again as a jpg file.

It should be less thean 100kb to be manageable.

If its a raw file from a quality camera it may be many megabytes in size which would take hours to upload.

Failing to upload photo?

OK guys

I would be really grateful for some tech advice in trying to upload a photo to the forum.

I've tried the 'My Files', which does open an upload window. I then select a photo and select upload and the file ext name appears in the window.

It then advises to wait for the upload complete message which never comes.

However if I click on the my folder/file space ext at RoboSavvy (which is in the same window). It comes back with the Not Found/unable to find URL message.

Do I need to set this up first? Or am I doing something fundamentally wrong.

Hi, I believe you can upload a photo to Robosavvy files area using the user menu - My Files link near the bottom of this screen on the left hand side.

Can't wait to see the photo.
