Hi , ysamu and welcome, , don't worry about asking simple questions..I find the forum Search
(http://robosavvy.com/forum/search.php) facility invaluable.

The GWS gyro can be used to help RN respond to brief disturbances, by briefly altering the position of specific servos.... for more info see GWS PG-03 Gyro in the RN-wiki:
http://robosavvy.com/site/index.php?option=com_openwiki&id=wiki:robonova-i_faq
Whereas although the tilt sensor and the standard 2-axis accelerometer provide tilt angle information the accelerometer updates at 60Hz making it potentially more useful, (if roboBSIC was executed faster that is..it could be used with a gyro to create an IMU).

I personally, just use it as outlined in the datasheet:
http://robonova.de/store/files/data/accel.pdf
Statistics: Posted by NovaOne — Sat Apr 12, 2008 8:38 pm

Hello all,
I just purchased a RN-1 kit here after looking at the forums. I find it quite difficult to find information for new users, like tutorials/first step... So I am wrtiting here, apologising in advance for those questions which must have been asked already a thousand times^^
Ok, I just want to go to the point were my RN reacts when pushed and stands up on its own when falling.
I understand I need a sensor that will detect its relative position in space, so for me there are the tilt sensor, the 2-axis accelometer and the GWS piezo Gyro which can acheive this.
Can you tell me which one is the best to buy, and how many(I understand the tilt has got only one axis...).
And if you have a bit of time, can you tell me what is the best application of those sensors?
Thank you very much!
Statistics: Posted by ysamu — Sat Apr 12, 2008 6:30 pm
