Servo Burn up

When everything is running now, it only moves in one direction. (i.e. you can move it freely by hand backwards, but you can only push it forward up to the point the servo is set to be at.

I didn't read that section carefully enough... blew right over it. Sounds kinda' like a stripped gear maybe. When you move it backwards, can you hear the motor turn on even though the joint isn't moving? Similar to this... http://robosavvy.com/Builders/bauermech/servobroke.wmv

Thanks for the reply. I saw that thread, but the discussion there doesn't really apply to what I'm seeing. This is the #4 leg servo, and all the wiring looks fine.

I will call Hitec on Monday, and hopefully they'll have some good news. I may just go ahead and buy a few replacements anyways, because I'm planning some future mods.

This thing is addictive!

Here's a thread where lomruz ran into a problem w/ the #4 servo due to lead pinching problems. You might want to check it out... maybe it will help? Let me know if you find anything

Will Hitec replace the burnt servo?

You'll probably have to contact Hitec. Their service is excellent, but I don't want to speak for them. I don't particularly know what sort of criterion needs to be met for warranty replacement of their products.

Hi All,
I recently built up my first Robonova-1 and so far I've been very impressed, and have had a lot of fun.

However today (my first day of usage) I burnt up one of my leg servos (the ankle servo numbered #4). When everything is running now, it only moves in one direction. (i.e. you can move it freely by hand backwards, but you can only push it forward up to the point the servo is set to be at.

Everything seemed to be zeroed correctly and running fine. I haven't been doing anything out of the ordinary.

Anyone seen a burn-up like this?
What could have caused this burn up?
Will Hitec replace the burnt servo?
Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?
