While it's allways good practice to use a wrist strap and use esd packaging I wouldn't worry too much. You are in a pretty humid area so I'd worry even less. If you're getting zapped everytime you grab a door knob (or the girlfriend) then I'd start thinking about taking some precautions.

Will the controller board on the robonova be effected by ESD? Should I take precaution against esd when touching the board?
