I think that the manual leaves a lot of stuff unclear. May be the translation of the material caused this to happen.
Statistics: Posted by Gort — Thu Jun 01, 2006 9:09 pm

Thanks, I wish I had this when I was putting mine together.

This should really be a sticky post so it's always up top.
Statistics: Posted by H3dude — Thu Jun 01, 2006 6:39 pm

As you know I got my RN1 and since I last posted I've also assembled it. It took me 3 days because my hands simply couldn't take the screwin/unscrewing necessary and I had to rest . Since then I've been working with him and I've done some cool stuff.
The bad part is that I don't have time to post around here or work too much with my RN1 because of my exams (till the end of June )

During assembly I noticed some errors in the manual and I gathered them up neatly with the page numbers and everything:

pages 28-29 - the manual shows servo 2 and servo 4 and then servo 11 and 12 but one of these pictures is flipped causing the illusion that servo 4 goes to servo 11 and servo 2 to 12. False.
Correct assembly is 4->12 and 2->11

page 34(top of page) - the manual states that one bracket type HR1B-002 must be used for each shoulder. False
As can be seen in the photo (and by number of parts remaining) brackets type HR1B-001 must be used

page 37 - the manual says to "secure the HR1B-007 bracket to the body using ten PH/T 2.6x4mm bolts". False
To attach the bracket you must use PH/M 2.6x4mm

pages 32,34,36 - the photos on these pages (starting with 32) show that the wires for servos 6,12,4,22 should come out throught the bottom. DO NOT DO THIS! Instead they must exit the frame as shown on page 33 (through the hole in the back) and on page 41 (from behind the controller board). Make certain of this before tightening the screws on the torso (guess how I found this one out )

NOTE:All your wire placements must match those on page 41 otherwise stop assembly and retrace your steps

Most are misprints but I think they also come from the fact that the assembly is not of one robot but of several robots at different stages (thus the flipped photos and misplaced wiring)

Hope this helps

EDIT: *english version of the manual. I forgot to mention that
Statistics: Posted by Gil — Thu Jun 01, 2006 6:23 pm
