Hi hi,

I have bought the POB-Bot Lite robot together with the POB-TinyProto in order to implement vision onto my robonova. However I have problem in interfacing between the nova and POB-Bot. Anyone can guide me for the hardware interfacing and how to start adding source code to the robonova program
Statistics: Posted by ROBONOVICE — Mon Oct 08, 2007 7:50 am

The same with the OOPIC (as far as I know), that means you can't connect both modules via I2C.
But RS232 should also be possible, and if you add 2 little ICs (74HC138+74HC245) for address decoding you could also use the very fast parallel interface.

Joerg
Statistics: Posted by Joerg — Thu Jun 22, 2006 8:58 am

robodude666 wrote:
So the RN-1 uses a different board than the one POB offers?

There are 3 components in the moment, Cam, LCD and Protoboard. For the Robonova you can use the Cam and if you want the LCD.
No prototyping board is required for normal operation.

There is a small (hidden) board with a MAX232 (level-shifter) to connect the 2 serial port (POB-EYE and Robonova). The programm in the Robonova is a slave of the POB-EYE. The POB-EYE sends command like :turn on the left, move forward....

The original prototyping board has motor- and servo drivers and this is not needed for the Robonova. The joystick can replaced with the infrared remote from the Robonova. We will make the protocol more stable to add this feature for the user interface.

You can use, if you want - not necessary - a smaller Protoboard (or cutted original one) for your own extensions.
For example, on the Bremen fair sombody asked for the possibility to log data from the cam to an extended memory. Such things are possible with an extra board.

Joerg
Statistics: Posted by Joerg — Wed Jun 21, 2006 8:44 pm

Wowo - I have to say whether you like the head or not the capability that seems to be present is impressive. I have played with the CMU CAM and its cool but i do like the look of the POD unit.

I am still a strong believer that robotics at all levels is about autonomous action so anything that adds further features to the RN1 to meet that goal is great in my mind.

10 out of 10 guys

Pev
Statistics: Posted by Pev — Wed Jun 21, 2006 6:19 pm
