The battery is rated at 1Amp/Hour that doesn't mean that that is the max current that the battery supplies. The RoboNova can draw 3+ Amps at times. You can unplug the battery and use an external supply in place of the battery but it would really need to be able to supply more than 1 Amp. I would suggest a regulated 6.5VDC supply that can supply 5 Amps or more.
